Class Description:
This course offers artists a comprehensive introduction to the international art market, focusing on how to navigate and thrive within it. Key topics include understanding galleries, museums, art fairs, exhibition making and studio practices, as well as strategies for pricing and selling artworks. Students will explore interconnected actors that play pivotal roles in the art market such as art dealers, curators, studio managers, and art advisors, learning how to effectively engage with these professionals. By examining market trends and case studies, artists will gain practical insights into building their careers and maximizing their presence in the global art market.

Dr. Anne Luther advises collectors internationally on developing their art collections and curates, manages and funds exhibitions of emerging and established artists. Dr. Luther has given lectures about the contemporary art market at New York University, The New School, the SUNY, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Sotheby's Institute of Art and others. Her PhD is an examination of the contemporary art market in New York and the relationships between art production and collecting practices. Her extensive network in the international art market spans through all roles in the art world. She is a senior consultant [Americas] for Antonia Josten Art World Recruitment and works with several museums on data-driven research and presentation.
