Experiments in Monotype Printing (Wednesdays 12-2pm) spring

$192.00

4-Part Workshop

DATES: 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/9

Class Description:

Welcome to Experiments in Monotype Printing, come learn a wonderful form of printmaking, no experience necessary. We will be experimenting with different methods of creating images on plexiglass plates with ink, watercolors, and oil pastels. We will also explore creating impressions of objects and different ways to create textures. This class is an excellent way to play and get your creative juices flowing. We will be creating one of a kind, one off pieces hence why it’s called monotype printing. This method of printmaking lends itself towards layering and we will play with different techniques to layer images and color. You will leave this class with a set of prints of your own creation and a basic understanding of print practices like color mixing and how to use a printing press.

Teacher Info:

Charlotte Holt is a West Philly based printmaker and artist. She has her degree in Printmaking from Smith College. She has been selling her own work, teaching and managing print shops for over five years. She has taught at the Brandywine Museum of Art and Peters Valley School of Craft among others. Besides creating her own work she loves managing print shops, most recently overseeing the print and glass studios at Peters Valley School of Craft and has been deeply involved with Second State Press since she moved to Philly in 2021. Charlotte loves so many things about printmaking as a medium but what she loves the most is the communal nature of printmaking. Print shops are a wonderful place to create and be in community together!
