Natural Forms and Patterns - Mixed Levels Acrylic Painting (6-8pm)
SUMMER 1 : MAY 5 - JUNE 22
Class Description:
For this Summer session the class will focus on painting still life from Natural Forms and Patterns found in Nature. Simple still life from branches, leaves, shells and flowers will be our subjects with the use of imagination and color in painting. The class is Mixed Levels and suitable for beginners and painters with more experience. Students are also encouraged to bring in their own natural subjects to paint or contribute to a still life set up. We will paint with Acrylic paint on canvas and board and techniques to work with this fast drying paint will be shared. Students will practice sketching in advance to set up a painting, learn how to mix colors and in the use of Acrylic mediums while painting. Students can work at their own pace and paint 1-3 paintings depending on their interest in a subject. The goal is enjoyment of the painting process in the studio.
NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON MONDAY, MAY 26. THERE WILL BE A MAKE-UP CLASS ON FRIDAY, MAY 30.

Mary Powers-Holt studied painting and drawing at the PA Academy of the Fine Arts and Art History at the University of Pennsylvania through the Academy and Penn's coordinated B.F.A./Certificate program. She was awarded the J. Henry Schiedt Traveling Scholarship in her fourth year at the PA Academy. Mary Powers-Holt is a collective member of the Cerulean Arts Gallery in Philadelphia and exhibits her work in many venues in the area. Her paintings are influenced by nature and the abstract patterns and forms found in the landscape.
