Painting as Play
3-Part Workshop
DATES: 6/7, 6/14, 6/21
12pm - 2pm
Class Description:
In this workshop we will return to the wonder of making something with our hands: focusing on painting loose, having fun, and finding the creative intuition that we can lose touch with when overly focused on making something perfect. Through exercises designed to reconnect students to the idea of play as an integral part of the art process, the workshop will work together and individually to shake loose and make work for the sake of making. The workshop will focus primarily on acrylic painting on paper. The class is suitable for both beginners and experienced painters. Students will come away with a pile of new drawings and paintings to continue to work from. The instructor will discuss approaches to incorporating improvisation and play into your art practice, with the goal of getting unstuck and finding pure joy in the act of painting.
NOTE: Participants with school-age children are welcome to bring them along to join this workshop
Teacher Info:

They have an MFA in Poetry from UC Irvine and have worked for years teaching art classes and poetry workshops for young people and adults. They work as an artist, writer, and teacher in Philadelphia.
