Painting with Acrylics (Mondays 6-8pm)
WINTER SESSION: JANUARY 6 - FEBRUARY 23
Class Description:
In this class we will paint from still life objects, fruit or flowers with an emphasis on blocking color and shapes in one class and adding details to finish in the next class. Students are also welcome to bring objects or projects from home that are meaningful to them. Returning students can continue their practice or work on a project of their own. This class will focus on the materials and strategies for painting with Acrylics learning how to set up a palette, mixing colors and acrylic mediums. This is a direct painting class that will cover preparation and priming your surface with color and approaches to adding shapes and detail. The class is suitable for beginners with no painting experience or those who want to continue their practice in a painting studio.

Mary Powers Holt was born in Philadelphia, PA and studied painting and drawing at the PA Academy of the Fine Arts and Art History at the University of Pennsylvania through the Academy and Penn's coordinated B.F.A./Certificate program. She was awarded the J. Henry Schiedt Traveling Scholarship in her fourth year at the PA Academy. Mary Powers-Holt is a collective member of the Cerulean Arts Gallery in Philadelphia and exhibits her work in many venues in the area. Her home and studio are in Chester County, PA.
