Ink Drawing in the Landscape & Cityscape (Tuesdays 6-8pm)

$250.00

FALL SESSION: OCTOBER 14-DECEMBER 8

(No classes the week of Thanksgiving)

Class Description:

Ink is a bold, versatile, and immediate way to respond to a landscape. Ink draws on both painting and drawing techniques and allows for precision and instinctual mark-making. Throughout the course I will introduce you to a range of examples from art history that use ink. We will go out into a variety of local landscapes (nature and city) and will paint onsite. I will guide the students in their way of approaching and relating to the subject matter. This class aims to leave students with confidence using ink and an opportunity to complete multiple pieces of Philadelphia landscapes.

Teacher Info:

Ana Grace Neifeld (b. 1999 Oakland, California) lives and paints in Philadelphia. She studied painting at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2022. She has received the Estelle Rubens Travel Scholarship, Janet Fleisher Prize, and the Louis S. Fine Purchase Prize. She also was a recent recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Grant for emerging artists. Neifeld paints moments of life that feel familiar but almost forgotten. By drawing from life and imagination in tandem, Neifeld uses painting as an alchemical process to unveil a deeply mysterious but familiar world.
