Class Description:

In THECOLORG’s “Sew Cute: DIY Plush Making” class, participants will learn the essentials of designing and creating their own unique plush toy from concept to cuddly creation! The class covers everything from sketching and fabric selection to sewing and adding personalized touches. By the end, each participant will have a custom-made plush and the skills to continue making more on their own. All materials are provided, with the option to bring personal fabrics or embellishments.

Ash Garner - THECOLORG (b. 1991, Central PA) is a millennial feminine queer interdisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia, PA. Growing up surrounded by teddy bears and stuffed animals crafted by her family, she found inspiration in these soft works. Through soft sculpture, installation, and painting, her work reflects the bridge between childhood memories and adult experiences, using objects, materials, and wordplay that evoke a sense of familiarity and introspection. Ash holds an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a BFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She has attended artist residencies at the Studios at MASS MoCA, Chautauqua Visual Arts, and the Walkaway House in North Adams, MA. Her work has been exhibited at many museums, galleries, and institutions across the country. THECOLORG has built a handmade plush brand/entity focused on creating unique and custom plush for people of all ages which can be found for adoption at The Fabric Workshop & Museum, Philadelphia, PA. Ash has held plush making workshops at the Banana Factory, Bethlehem, PA; CosciaMoos Architecture, Philadelphia, PA; Cherry Street Pier, Philadelphia, PA; & Moore College of Art & Design, Philadelphia, PA.
