Mixed Level Drawing (Saturdays 10am-12pm)
WINTER SESSION: JANUARY 6 - FEBRUARY 23
Class Description:
Learn strategies for drawing from observation as well as from imagination. This class is the perfect continuation of Drawing I, or for students who would like a mutually supportive environment to work on their drawing skills with the guidance of an instructor. Topics which will be covered include figure drawing, shading methods, strategies for checking proportions, and foreshortening, as well as technical information on graphite and charcoal, and best practices for maintaining one's sketching practice. Each week will have 2 projects to choose between. Students will receive individual guidance, if desired, alongside each week’s project.

Katrina Simonsen is an emerging artist living in Philadelphia after graduating from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with a certificate in Drawing. Katrina creates artwork in ink, watercolor, charcoal, graphite, oil paint, and more. Right now, she is most interested in creating art that explores storytelling, community, and dreams. In the past, she has focused on nature, grief, and other ideas. Katrina is especially interested in teaching traditional art skills that empower her students to continue creating awesome things for the rest of their lives.
