Monster-Making: A Creative Sewing Class (Wednesdays 6-8pm)
WINTER SESSION: JANUARY 6 - FEBRUARY 23
Class Description:
This is a sculpture class about playing with sewing materials and upcycling fabric things. Hand sewing and machine sewing skills are recommended but not required. We will be making eyeballs, moveable joints, explore pattern-making, experiment with different fabrics to see what they do. Each class will begin with a demo followed by workshop time where students can try what was demonstrated or explore their own interests. Students will have the option to take their projects in two different directions – as wearable art, or as an object. The instructor will give guidance for both.
Teacher Info:
Josey creates in order to make sense of her personal experiences. Drawing from her experiences with nature, children’s stories, and Biblical texts, she makes drawings, poems, soft sculptures, and body art to document the pains and joys of being alive.
