Repurposing Bags (Tuesdays 6-8pm)

$250.00

WINTER SESSION: JANUARY 6 - FEBRUARY 23

Class Description:

Do you have any old clothes that you aren’t ready to let go of? Join us in upcycling those clothes into bags! In this class, we will learn how to paint, sew, embroider, and embellish old clothes & scraps of fabric to refashion them instead of throwing them away. Students will get to use recycled & found fabric to design and produce these bags.

Teacher Info:

I’m Kate, a West Philly based artist & teacher.

I create to speak to, center, heal, and transform the dislocation that has been built in our bodies to re-envision home. At the center of my practice is my writing — and this expands into painting, experimental film & clothing design. My work is both very vulnerable and collaborative, as I believe transforming home is a process that must happen within community. This process involves contextualizing our personal experience within oppressive systems and calling attention to its influence in our body, psyches, relationships & communities.
